Turning Now

© 2011 by Christopher and Maria Clymer Kurtz

A wispy strand of hair falling across my eyes;
A feeling of uncertainty without a reason why.
I brush it back and tell myself give it a try;
I close the door behind me under cloudy skies

A break in busy traffic so I cross the street;
The heavy weight of pavement solidly under my feet.
I hold my breath and slowly turn onto your walk;
I lift my fingers to your door and gently knock.

Turning now toward a love
I wonder how I lived without.
And humming as I go about
My way, forgetting every doubt.

Without a pause you reach for me and pull me tight;
You answer my unspoken question, “It’s alright.”
A wispy strand of hair falling across my eyes;
I lean into your arms and let the clouds roll by.
