Far to Grow

© 2010 by Christopher Clymer Kurtz

I tried to write a book about living,
But I wasn't qualified,
Aside from my own melodramatic sighs.
Something I know a lot about.

So I thought I'd preach a sermon 'bout sinning,
But I'd never really sinned,
Unless you count the times I wasn't quite honest.
Something I know a lot about.

I live, I sigh, I sin, I lie,
And little do I know.
We live, we cry, we sin, we die.
So far to grow.

So I tried to write a song about dying,
But it hadn't happened to me yet,
Unless you count the times I didn't get my way.
Something I know a lot about.

There was a time when I knew everything,
When I had a lot to say.
There was a time when I would speak my mind;
That time is old and gray.
