Old Folks Song

© 2010 by Christopher and Maria Clymer Kurtz

Red patch, blue patch, yellow green;
Orange juice, coffee, sugar, cream.
Window, nightstand, poetry;
Moonlight, sunlight, birds and bees.

Flowered cushions, stacks of books;
Ragged carpet, breakfast nook.
Morning news lands on the porch;
Crossword puzzle done by lunch.

Walking slowly, smell the scents;
Boxwood hedges, picket fence.
No time to hurry, stop, say "Hi";
Regular old folks, you and I.
